THE CODES TO BE OBSERVED
When traveling to the forest or mountain, it is essential to conduct oneself in a respectful manner and not simply pass through rural areas to enjoy the scenery. To ensure the local inhabitants are as content as the traveler, it is recommended to abide by the following guidelines:
- It is requested that noise production be avoided, as rural areas are generally characterized by tranquility. Every sound is easily discernible in these settings, and excessive noise usually indicates an unfavorable situation. Therefore, it is asked that voices be kept low and music be kept at a minimum when approaching houses.
- Always salute! Even when you go by car, wave to greet passers-by, it’s appreciated.
- To build a trusting relationship with the local people, it is important to show respect for the traditional culture by dressing appropriately. Ladies should avoid wearing clothing that is too revealing, such as shorts that are too short or clothes that show too much cleavage.
- Sharing is one of the pillars of these rural areas. A smile, a fruit, a word immediately set up a friendly atmosphere.
During our explorations, we made a number of observations. With time, one will be able to develop a method of communicating with the residents of rural areas, who have much more knowledge to impart than one may initially think.
